Get moving!

The body was designed for motion.  When we quit moving, we become stagnant. This lack of motion can affect our health, our emotions, our relationships and our general forward progress in life. Deciding to get moving can be life changing. Whether you have become stuck in ruts of inactivity or indecision, moving can kick start your life. Old habits of inactivity, whether intellectual or physical can be hard to change.  It becomes easier to go with the downstream flow than to explore ways in which we can start moving again. Older adults often accept as normal the gradual decline of aging.  You don't have to settle for a life of a slow physical and mental decline.  You can turn around and begin incorporating motion into many aspects of your life, from physical movement to intellectual stimulation. Maximize motion can help you take charge and get moving again!

Words Matter

Words contain the power to heal or to harm. As a movement professional, I strive to use words to bring about positive change-both in body and mind. But, I sometimes fall short, by over-medicalizing my words. In the search for a diagnosis, physical therapists can be tempted to focus too much on what’s wrong and not enough on what’s right.

It is my ethical responsibility to think deeply about how I communicate-using my words and actions to empower, generate hope, and help my clients live their best, most active lives. You have my word.
